Keep cool with summer skincare
As the weather heats up, use your daily skincare routine to cool down! Switch over to soothing, refreshing, and cooling skincare products to keep skin feeling happy and fresh.
When summer temperatures increase, traditional facial creams can feel unbearably thick and sticky. In the humidity and warmth, your skin naturally releases more sebum, which also tends to feel more liquid on the surface of your skin. Turning to light-feeling gel creams can be one solution for dealing with the increase in oil and stickiness.
We love the COSRX Ultimate Moisturizing Honey Overnight Mask as a sleeping mask as well as gel moisturizer. Apply the gel in a thin layer to use as a moisturizer both day and night, or apply a thicker layer to replenish your skin as you sleep. Another perfect summer moisturizer is the lightweight Fresh and More Cream by HUXLEY.
There’s a reason aloe is the go-to treatment for sunburns (though hopefully you won’t have any sunburns this summer by being diligent with your sun protection)! It’s naturally soothing, moisturizing, and anti-inflammatory, making it the perfect all-over body and face treatment for the summer.
Smooth refreshing aloe gel all over as a moisturizer and refresher. We love the Benton Aloe Propolis Gel for the face and body. Containing 80% aloe juice, this light moisturizer also includes nourishing propolis, which is known for its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. You can layer gels like the Benton, or the Nature Republic Aloe Vera gel, with another moisturizer on top to increase your skin’s moisture levels. Keep your aloe gel in the refrigerator for the ultimate refreshing after-sun care!
We love aloe juice in toners too, and one of our latest favorites is the Bonair Premier Aloe Real Squeeze Toner. This beautifully packaged aloe toner is all you will need under your moisturizer for perfectly hydrated skin. With Bonair’s carefully harvested fresh aloe vera juice combined with a touch of moisturizing oils, like avocado and coconut, this toner strikes the perfect balance between hydrating and nourishing.
One of our favorite ways to quench thirsty skin in the summer is by using watery, hydrating masks. Masks that have a more watery essence can help to increase your skin’s water content without contributing to excess oiliness.
The summer heat and sun can sap the water from your skin. Try the “1 Day 1 Mask” method to keep skin hydrated and plump by using an inexpensive daily mask every day.
We love the Holika Holika masks for daily masking, and the Cucumber flavor has a watery essence especially suitable for the summer. These thin hydrating masks are inexpensive but effective. The Etude House Snail Mask is another great option with a hydrating essence that harnesses the soothing and repairing properties of snail mucin.
Just like with aloe gels, sheet masks feel heavenly when kept in the fridge and used to cool down your skin!
